Versatile for the dog in front of us.

TRAILING

We Allow Curiousity and Natural Problem-Solving to Develop.

Working Together: Expectations

HUNT DOG

We‘ll establish the best foundation possible for your dog and provide you with tools, hands-on experience, and continued support.

YOU

Buy in to the process. Thats what we require. Watch the videos, go over materials prior to handler visits, join the Facebook group, and take advantage of post training Private Lessons. Become the best handler/owner you can be and we promise you’ll have a more rich life and enjoy the HECK out of taking your dog to the woods.

How We Set You Up For Success

Preparing the Dog For You

We take a versatile but highly positive-reinforcement based approach to dog training that emphasizes clear communication, expectations, and a mutual respect for one another. On the trailing side, real deer parts are used, namely interdigital gland from

hooves laid with Wasgau Tracking Shoes.

Preparing You for the Dog

Throughout the program, we’ll send you regular progress update videos of your dog with us talking through our drills, vocabulary, and troubleshooting approaches. You’ll also learn to better read your dog‘s body language as we trail.

Skill Transference

Our number 1 priority is for you to have a reliable companion in the woods and at your home. No matter how good a dog performs for us, what use is it if that behavior doesn’t carry over to your home and continue to improve?  As a part of your program, we STRONGLY  encourage you to spend a weekend with us toward or at the end of the 6 weeks to work together with your dog.

Providing Continued Support

Once our portion of the training is over you’ll be able to join a growing Facebook group of HUNT DOG handlers who share values and approach, and operate with a common vocabulary for dog Training, Management, and Handling.

In addition to this collaborative community, you and your dog will have up to 4 free private sessions per year, for the life of your dog.  These can be used for tuning up obedience, checking your trailing with blind tracks, testing/certification prep, or sharpening off-leash reliability through adventure.

Is This The Right “Fit” for you?

Active Involvement

We aim to lay a solid foundation for your best friend. However, most of your success with living and working with your dog will come from what you repeatedly and consistently do with your dog.

Learning Mindset

If you want a “set it and forget it” solution, get a crockpot. We want to serve those who desire to grow their skill as a handler and trainer.

Ethical Tracking

The Anti-Hunting AND Hunting community both always finds reasons to push against what others value as a tradition and activity. We aim to do everything in our power to promote the reality of trailing as an act of conservation.
